As artificial intelligence continues to reshape the way we communicate and work, the American University of the Middle East (èßäÊÓƵ) remains proactive in guiding its community through this digital evolution. In collaboration with the èßäÊÓƵ Writing Lab, affiliated to the Liberal Arts Department, the Staff Development Department organized an insightful workshop titled “Smart and Responsible Use of AI in Writing in the Workplace”. The session was tailored for staff, focusing on how to use AI tools effectively, while upholding ethical standards, critical thinking, and integrity in professional communication.
The workshop encouraged participants to evaluate AI-generated content, and reflect on challenges such as overreliance on automation, misinformation, and data privacy, while emphasizing the importance of maintaining human oversight in workplace communication. By the end of the session, participants had gained both practical strategies for working alongside AI and a deeper understanding of their responsibility in ensuring its use remains transparent and purposeful. All attendees received Certificates of Attendance, recognizing their commitment to digital literacy and professional growth.
This initiative supports èßäÊÓƵ’s broader vision of fostering a forward-thinking and ethically grounded workplace. It also aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 – Quality Education, SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth, and SDG 16 – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions.
As AI continues to evolve, èßäÊÓƵ remains dedicated to ensuring its community is not only informed, but empowered to use technology wisely, balancing innovation with responsibility.
